Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB)'s Management Committee chairman Zaka Ashraf is hopeful for Pakistan's victory in the upcoming Asia Cup.
Speaking at Asia Cup's schedule and trophy unveiling ceremony in Lahore, Ashraf said it's a big moment in Pakistan's cricket.
"It's a big achievement of PCB that after 15 years Asia Cup is coming back to Pakistan," he said.
"It's an opportunity for us to host the cricket nations. We welcome all the participating nations in our country and we look forward to hosting them," he added.
In reply to a question, Ashraf said being the head of PCB, who will host the Asian event, all teams are equal to him but he wishes that Pakistan lift the trophy.
"All teams are equal to me but yes I wish that Pakistan win the tournament," he shared.
Pakistan last won the Asia Cup in 2012 when Ashraf was the PCB chairman. Aizaz Cheema defended nine runs in the last over to help Pakistan win the tournament's final against Bangladesh.
The event will start on August 30 with hosts Pakistan taking on Nepal at Multan Cricket Stadium. Lahore will host three games including a Super Four contest.
Sri Lanka's Kandy and Colombo will host the remaining nine matches including the final.
Pakistan will take on India in group stage on September 2 in Kandy. If they both qualify for the next round, they will once again meet on September 10 at the same venue.
If the arch-rivals also advance to the final, they will lock horns in Colombo on September 17.
A hybrid model will be used for the Asia Cup this year after India refused to tour Pakistan for the event due to security concerns. It was presented by former PCB Management Committee chairman Najam Sethi.
India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and Nepal will compete in a total of 13 ODI matches.
These teams are divided into two groups with Group A including Pakistan, India and Nepal. Meanwhile, Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka are in Group B.
